Our world changed forever when JFK took the stage opposite Richard Nixon in the first televised presidential debate. From that point forward, it was not just what a candidate said that conveyed meaning, it was also how he or she appeared saying it.

Our world is changing again with the advent of video streaming on the Internet. New technology is making it easier and more affordable to add online clips that introduce a survey or showcase electoral candidates... basically bringing your messages to life with video.

In the past few months alone, we’ve traveled nationwide to oversee filming for several clients. We're hearing from our clients’ members and customers that they welcome the powerful dimension video streaming offers.

If you haven’t thought yet about how video streaming could change communications with your members or customers, ask yourself the following:

  1. How could video capture my audience’s attention and encourage them to respond?

  2. Do I want my organization to be perceived as innovative?

  3. Are there people in my organization who would welcome the opportunity to communicate with our members/customers through video?

  4. If seeing is believing, what do I want my members/customers to believe?

Send me an email or give me a call if you want more information about video streaming. It’s truly the next big thing.

P.S. By the way, welcome to this first edition of the SBS Soundbyte. We hope you find it a valuable read and another example of our commitment to active listening — you ask, we listen and respond.

The Optical Society of America experienced some difficulty in the past with election service providers. Frustrated, the association’s Executive Office Programs Director Kari Apter, called SBS. She was relieved to experience the difference SBS delivers: Efficient, responsive support that includes allowing volunteers to test the election site in advance and providing all the election reports at the end of voting. Problem solved.
